traditions - Talent Show
The first in a series of university talent shows sponsored by Zeta Beta took place on May 13, 1948. The show originated at VPI to foster entertainment for the campus. Acts were presented by the Highty Tighties, the Southern Colonels, and the College Glee Club. In the fall quarter of 1948, ZB conducted the talent show on a Thursday night and sponsored a hop the following Saturday night. In February 1949, the third Talent Show was held, with Joe Hardy as the master of ceremonies. This was the first time that women from Radford College participated.
For the shows from February 1950 until January 1951, the MCs were as follows:
Date Master of Ceremonies
February, 1950 Bill Kindle
April, 1950 John Autry, Sam Weaver
January, 1951 Bill Blair
The seventh Tech Talent Show was held February 20, 1952, in Burruss Hall. Although ZB no longer hosts school wide talent shows, annuals shows within the fraternity remain an entertaining tradition.
